I find it difficult to think we are approaching our A.G.M. in February; the sun is shining and the weather has been quite mild, and yet I'm about to mention our Christmas meal which we were looking forward to the last time I was writing here.
January is one of those times of new beginnings and reflections on the events of the past year, in the many various areas of our lives. This is very much the case for the Mothers' Union. Our branch here at St.Paul's brought our year to a close in December, meeting together on two occasions, the first time for a carvery meal. This was most enjoyable, and when we stood and held hands to say The Grace at the end, a fellow diner commented how good it was to know our branch was thriving, as at her church they no longer had a Mothers' Union group. As we sang carols at our meeting in Christmas week, especially "Joy to the world", a particular favourite of some members, I felt blessed that we continue to enjoy these times of fellowship that have been a part of the life of St. Paul's Church for so many years.
Our first meeting following the A.G.M. is in March, when we shall be hearing about work being carried out in Dudley by the Wren's Nest Project. This was the UK's first ever Geological National Nature Reserve, a major site for learning more about the history of our area, and it should be an interesting evening. This is an open meeting so visitors are most welcome.
Love and good wishes to all,
Elaine Darby
